    How does it work?

    All applicants undergo a rigorous selection process. The most suitable applicants are then personally selected by British embassies and high commissions around the world.

    As a fully-funded scholarship, you’ll receive tuition or program fees, living expenses, and return flights to the UK. You will also gain access to exclusive networking events, workshops, talks, internships, and volunteering opportunities, giving you a diverse introduction to life in a global role.

    How to apply

    You can apply for a Chevening Scholarship by selecting your country from the dropdown list at www.chevening.org/apply After submitting your application, it will be assessed against Chevening’s eligibility criteria. Those applications that are deemed eligible will then be assessed by independent reading committees, who will create a long list of applicants.

    The Commonwealth Scholarships

    The Commonwealth Scholarships scheme is aimed at students from across the Commonwealth who would not otherwise be able to afford to study in the UK. By funding postgraduate studies in a range of different study formats, the scheme helps to support future innovators and leaders. 

    This historic award is the UK’s primary scholarship scheme focused on supporting British international development goals. It is designed to attract outstanding talent to UK universities whilst also supporting sustainable development overseas.

    Who can apply? 

    To apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of a Commonwealth country. You will still be eligible if you are a refugee or British-protected person. 

    You also need to have an undergraduate honors degree of at least upper second class (2:1). If you wish to study for a Ph.D., you will need an appropriate master’s degree too.

    Gates Cambridge Scholarships

    The Gates Cambridge Scholarships are one of the most prestigious international scholarships in the world. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

    Scholarship Value

    A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge including tuition fees, maintenance allowance, travel costs, visa, etc. It also provides additional, discretionary funding such as academic development funding, family allowance, fieldwork, etc.

    Rhodes Scholarship

    The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest (first awarded in 1902) and perhaps most prestigious international scholarship program, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford.

    Scholarship value/inclusions/duration

    A Rhodes Scholarship covers all University and College fees; the University application fee; a living stipend (£15,900 per annum 2019-20); settling-in allowance (£225 in 2019-20), health insurance, visa, two economy class flights – to and from the UK – for the beginning and end of studies in Oxford.

    The basic tenure of the scholarship is two years, subject always, and at all times, to satisfactory academic performance and personal conduct.

    The Rhodes Scholarships UK will cover all the expenses of the scholarship recipient. There is no application fee for this scholarship program.

    The Royal Society Grants

    The royal society welcomes research proposals across the world and provides grants from £3,000 to £12,000. An applicant must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent research experience to apply for the grant. Research should be based on the remit of natural sciences and will be conducted in the Royal Society. The amount of grant will be allotted at the time of the stay for the research in the United Kingdom.
